Tea, Art, and Theater: A Day in New York

One summer Wednesday, I went to New York with my mother and grandmother. First, we went to the Glossier Pop-Up in Soho. The store is very cool, even if you don’t like makeup, and their products are actually great and easy to use! If you are in the neighborhood, you should definitely stop by.

Next, we went for tea at Ladurée, my favorite pastry shop! Our tea was perfect! We ate outside, which I recommend, if possible, because the restaurant’s courtyard is very pretty. It is also shaded, perfect for a hot summer day! The pastries and macarons were delicious, and my tea too. I would absolutely recommend Ladurée for afternoon tea or any pastry needs!

Next, we visited the Whitney Biennial, an exposition showing young artists, often with a deeper message to their art. I very much liked the exposition, which consisted of paintings, sculptures, and videos. One thing I love about The Whitney is that you can use your phone as an audio guide.

Finally, after a dinner, we went to see Oklahoma on Broadway. It was very different than other shows I have seen. First, the lights on the audience were kept on throughout the musical, with the exception of only a few scenes. Also, the audience was even served cornbread and chili during the intermission! The show was certainly amusing – a little bizarre at times – but I am happy I went. However, if you can only see one show in New York, maybe go to another (think Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Wicked, The Lion King).
