Summer Saturday in New York: Photo Series

Earlier this June, I ventured into New York City to visit a friend. Given the beautiful 75º and sunny weather, I opted for walking as my mode of transportation. In fact, I wandered through Midtown, Soho, Greenwich Village, and Tribeca all without taking a single cab (or subway). Here’s what I did throughout the day:

After arriving at the East 35th Street ferry terminal, I headed southwest toward Greenwich Village. I stumbled upon a lovely farmers’ market in Union Square Park, which I’ve since learned is the Union Square Greenmarket that occurs every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday all year round.

I then continued south, passing the northern border of Washington Square Park.

I arrived early at the restaurant, but there happened to be a gorgeous garden just across the street, the Jefferson Market Garden.

I then met my friend for lunch at Olio e Più, a popular Italian trattoria and enoteca! Our food was delicious! We ate outside on the beautiful patio and both opted for their homemade pasta.

We walked around the shops in Soho, and then I headed south through Tribeca to catch the ferry home.

That sums up my day in New York! Walking is truly the best way to get around the city, and had I simply popped in a cab, I would have missed all of this beauty.
